Currently I live, breath and sleep social media. My parents used to think it was crazy to get paid to tweet, but it is working for me now, and I hope to make a career out of it.
What is "it" you ask? Well it's not just tweeting. Right now I get paid to create and publish content for Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook and to oversee the website posts. This may seem like an easy gig on paper, but it is not.
I want to take my experience as the Digital Content Director for KTXT The Raider 88.1, the student run radio station, and apply it in my future career.
I hope to one day run my own team of social media specialists and over see all digital content for the Texas Rangers Baseball Organization.
That is the end goal, the dream.
I know that my first job out of college is not going to be as glamorous as that one, but the plan is to work my way up into a team like that and run one of my own some day. While the Rangers organization is ideal, I would love to create or manage content for other companies as well.
I would love to work for a powerful women-run company like GirlBoss or Revolve, or even a record label or the a USA Olympics. I like working on a lot of things at once and I like the freedom to get up, move around and create content on the go. I also love having my own space to spread out and decorate because it helps me be creative, so a cubicle is not for me.
In the end I would love to be able to work remotely sometimes or have opportunities to travel within my job, not just on vacations.
While I have known what I have wanted to do for a while now, I have grown and it has developed over time. I feel like I am quickly gaining the tools and connections I need to make it happen.
So check back in 10 years because if all goes well, I'll still be here blogging, it will just be 10x more interesting.
